SkillsUSA Contests
Region 3 SkillsUSA Contest will be held on Friday, 3 February 2012 at Atlanta Technical College.  Please see your advisor (Mr. Gilbreath, Coach Carthers, Chef Pratt) for more contest information. For specific contest information, click on the SkillsUSA Contest Files icon on this page.

MHS Wins Gold @ State Championships

PRESS RELEASE
SKILLSUSA GEORGIA CHAMPIONSHIPS

For Immediate Release on 19 March 2011

 Marietta High School’s SkillsUSA chapter sent twenty students to compete with 1,500 other students in the annual Georgia Championships held at the Georgia International Convention Center.  The three day event, held 17-19 March, included a total of 124 hands-on skill and leadership contests.

 Winning first place for MHS were senior Marianna Kunzmann in Commercial Baking and junior Kadijah Brookes in Culinary Arts.  Montell Ray took third place in Tee-Shirt Design.  Ms. Kunzmann and Ms. Brookes will advance to the 47th annual National Championships in Kansas City, Missouri which will be held 19-24 June 2011.  In addition to their first place medals, the young ladies were awarded travel and college scholarships totaling more than $25,000.

 SkillsUSA membership exceeds 312,000 students and instructors in more than 3,700 schools and colleges in all fifty states, three territories and the District of Columbia.  SkillsUSA helps high school and college students enrolled in career and technical education programs to excel by teaching employability skills such as communication, problem solving and leadership in conjunction with their occupational skills.

Competitions
Students participate in over 95 competitions, attend two leadership conferences a year, and participate in community service.
